John married Martha E. KENT "Mattie", daughter of Ephraim B. KENT and Susan Elizabeth CAIN, sometime Bet. 1876 - 1883. Mattie was born Sep 7 1858 in Carroll County, Mississippi. She died Nov 2 1946 and was buried Nov 1946 in Hampton Cemetery, Bradford County, Florida.

Mattie was counted in a census 1900 in Bradford County, Florida; M E Manire  Age Abt. 35 (1865).
